How to Save a Twitter Video to Your Phone (iPhone & Android)

Saving a Twitter video isn't actually built into the X app on phones- there's no native "save to camera roll" button on most videos you scroll past. This is the browser-based workaround that skips installing anything.

Quick answer

What to know before you start

  • Works from your phone's regular browser- no app needed
  • iPhone and Android save the file to different places, but the steps are nearly identical
  • The video has to be attached to a public post

Saving on iPhone

Open the video's post in Safari (or Chrome- either works), copy the link, and paste it below. Once the video loads, tap download and it'll land in the Files app first; from there you can move it into Photos if you want it in your camera roll proper.

  1. 1

    Copy the post link

Tap Share on the post, then Copy Link.

  2. 2

Paste it into the downloader below

Let it load the available video quality.

  3. 3

    Download and move to Photos

Save the file, then move it from Files into your Photos app if needed.

Saving on Android

Same idea, slightly different landing spot: Android browsers generally drop the downloaded file straight into your Downloads folder, and from there most gallery apps will pick it up automatically without you having to move anything.

Supports public status links.

Public posts only · No login required

If the video won't save

The two most common causes are a link that isn't pointing at the exact post- a shortened link or a profile URL won't work- or a post that's private, deleted, or was never public to begin with. Try opening the link in a private browser tab first; if you can't view it there without logging in, no downloader is going to reach it either.
